We have found a great way to make a vegan “butter cream” frosting that’s made with only 3 ingredients! The main ingredient may surprise you, there’s no butter here!
The base of this frosting is actually made with the liquid from canned chickpeas, also known as aquafaba.
All you have to do is beat the aquafaba with an electric mixture till it’s super thick and creamy, then add in icing sugar and vanilla extract! It can take a while for the aquafaba to whip up, but the mixer does all the hard work for you! So you can bake some delicious desserts in the meantime 😉

Vegan Butter Cream
Ingredients
- 1 cup aquafaba (liquid from chickpea can)
- 1 cup icing sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Open and drain a can of chickpeas, you will need 1 cup of the liquid. This is aquafaba.
- Place the aquafaba in the bowl of an electric stand mixer. Beat on a medium-low speed until it becomes thick and creamy. This make take up to an hour.
- When the aquafaba has gotten pretty thick, add in the icing sugar and vanilla extract. Continue mixing untill combined.
- Serve on dessert of your choosing!
